This feels so good

“This feels so good, I can’t stop doing it.” Those words just came out of my mouth and I had an aha.

When was the last time you said that? Have you ever said that? What were you doing when you said it? My guess is it wasn’t sex. We haven’t been taught how to have good sex in this country. But that’s a topic for another article. For me, the answer to the aforementioned question is handstands. They feel so good, I want to do them everyday! They give relief to my joints that hurt when I’m right side up and make me feel strong and balanced. They shift all my parts back into place. Love them!

As a country founded by Puritans, we’ve been ingrained with guilt about almost everything, except working hard and being productive. Don’t get me wrong, I love being productive but I also have my allotted share of guilt when I binge watch just about anything. There’s even a term for it… Guilty Pleasure! It’s right there in the name, did you catch that?

We’ve been cultured to feel guilty for doing anything for the sole purpose of pleasure. Even the above-mentioned sex, so weighed down by centuries of authoritative control, has been reduced to a shadow of it’s original intent.

Women are waiting for permission to have guilt free pleasure. It isn’t coming. You have to take it, make it and shake it loose-dance, sing, paint, have mediocre sex until it gets better, try new things till you find the one that makes you scream “I can’t stop!!”

Reconnect with your Joy

What lit you up when you were a kid? What do you want to create just for fun? Your love for love’s sake is vital to rekindle the fire you thought was long extinguished. Your joy is different than happiness. Happiness is fleeting, here one moment, gone the next when someone does something to piss you off.

Joy is your constant, base state. It is your soul’s perpetual mood. It is who you are under the layer of crap going on in your physical life. Part of connecting to this part of yourself is to cultivate a relationship with it. We have systematically driven joy to the bottom of our to-do lists and Joy feels it. Even the slightest bit of attention to your inner Joy will create shifts in your life.

Your assignment this week:

Just think (or dare I say “do?”) of one thing you enjoy doing so much, you never want to stop. You know you have one. Everyone does. Here’s a tip…think of what you loved to do as a child. That love is still in you.

For years I've lived by the mantra: "If you have the desire, you have the ability." The Universe isn't that cruel to give you a dream and no way to attain it. You may have to bust your ass for years and give up and restart a thousand times before success falls upon you, but it is absolutely possible to achieve your dreams.

Curiosity is Queen

“Curiosity plants the seed of doubt in the fertile ground that is your belief system.” Someone brilliant said that and I can’t remember whom. If it was you, please send me a note and I will give you credit. I was listening to Eckhart Tolle yesterday and every word that came out of his mouth was brilliant. He made the word toothpaste sound magical. He was doing a very good job at explaining how we as humans do not have an original thought. It is all a function of our human conditioning.
